Title: Diálogos entre culturas: una reflexión sobre feminismo, género, desarrollo y mujeres indígenas kichwuas
Abstract: This article presents a critical opinion on the lack of politicalization of gender as an instrument
in the development programs carried out by international development agencies.
The author analyzes how the target groups in International Development programs, in this
case the Ecuadorian Kichwua Women, adopt and translate the term ‘gender’. The stated
objective is to examine if feminist theories can offer us some possibility to create a functional
dialogue between women of different cultures analyzing especially Post-Colonial
Feminist positions and the theory of Sexual Difference in Feminist Theory. The article is
the result of an investigation undertaken during the Complutense’s International Studies
Master’s Program in Gender and Development intern program with the Ecuadorian Government’s
Council for the Development of Indigenous Nations and Peoples (CODENPE).
That experience permitted the author to know the political opinions of indigenous Kichwua
women in respect to gender, development and feminism.
Keywords: Gender, Development, Feminism, Indigenous, Difference, Post-Colonialism.
